Where Do Kids Find Their Passion?

” Our treasure lies in the beehive of our knowledge. We are perpetually on the way  thither, being by nature winged insects and honey gatherers of the mind.”   Friedrich Nietzsche

Sophie and Lily became beekeepers after a visit to Creative Discovery Museum’s Honey Harvest.

Recently, two young sisters began gathering honey and knowledge after discovering a passion for beekeeping at Creative Discovery Museum. Sisters Sophie and Lily visited the Museum during our Honey Harvest, held the last weekend of every July. The girls and their parents watched beekeepers extract honey, tasted different varieties of honey, and learned about beekeeping.

Inspired by what they saw, the family started their first hive in March. Now they sell their honey to family and friends. The beehives have become more than just a science experiment—they have become a side business for young girls!

“The Museum allows families to interact and learn creatively. It is a unique place that gives parents the opportunity to interact with kids hands-on. The Museum and beekeeping are building family memories that the girls will always remember,” said  the girls’ father.   Read more about the girls’ journey  at www.cdmfun.org/beegirls.
