They might not know all of their numbers just quite yet, but rising kindergartners across Chattanooga will soon be counting down the days until they start big school thanks in part to our Countdown to Kindergarten program.
We believe that preparing children for kindergarten also prepares them for success later in life. One of the main goals of the Countdown to Kindergarten program is to allow children to start school on equal footing. Otherwise, gaps between skill abilities will follow children throughout their academic career and only widen as they progress through school.
“Children who enter kindergarten with the emotional, social, physical and intellectual skills needed to be ready for school are more likely to be successful during all of their school years,” said Jayne Griffin, Director of Education at Creative Discovery Museum.
The program, which launched in 2015, provides parents and children with valuable resources to help with building skills necessary to start kindergarten. Each club member receives a free educational activity book, club t-shirt, one free admission to the Museum, and more.
Children also get free admission to our Countdown to Kindergarten Kick-off Celebration that offers hands-on activities and experiences that get children excited to start big school. This year’s event takes place on April 16, 2016 from noon to 4 p.m. Click here for more information.
Any rising kindergartner enrolling in a Chattanooga-area public or private school (including north Georgia) is eligible to join.
